ELKO – The Board of Directors of United Way of the Great Basin (UWGB), in response to uncertain financial conditions in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2010, is taking the following immediate actions to reduce costs:
“While these measures are both drastic and extensive, they are aimed at building a stronger United Way here in the Great Basin.” said Ken Hladek, Board member and spokesperson. “The Board anticipates a strengthened partnership with donor organizations, partners, and the public and hopes that the net benefit to the communities will be enhanced by these changes.”
The Board of Directors is also moving forward on several fronts to assure that support to the local communities can continue in the best possible manner. To that end, the Board will:
United Way of the Great Basin (UWGB) assesses and addresses community needs through collaborative partnerships and programs that foster sustainability. UWGB serves the five northeastern Nevada counties of Elko, Eureka, White Pine, Lander and Humboldt.
