WINNEMUCCA — An underground miner broke his ankle but is reportedly okay after a small rock fall at the Ashdown Mine Tuesday afternoon (July 27). The miner’s name was not released. The mine foreman said staff kept the man comfortable until the arrival of HGH EMS. He was then transported to Reno for further care. The foreman said the situation was not life-threatening. He went on to say every effort is made to keep accidents from occurring at all. The Ashdown Mine is located off of Alder Creek Rd. in a remote area of northern Humboldt County.
