The public is invited to attend one of two engagement sessions being held as part of the Winnemucca Future Project on Tuesday July 20th or Wednesday July 21st. This free evening hosted by the Humboldt Development Authority is the community’s opportunity to experience and contribute to what Humboldt County’s future can be.
By attending one of these meetings, citizens will:
Citizens are encouraged to come and enjoy an evening of stimulating conversation about the future of Winnemucca and Humboldt County. David Beurle and Juliet Fox from Innovative Leadership (innovativeleadershipusa.com) will facilitate the events. This internationally-famous community and economic development duo have devoted themselves to working with rural communities across Australia, North America and Ireland with the aim to help communities use their own creativity, assets and energy to build strong vibrant and prosperous futures. Their passion is empowering people, governments, organizations, and businesses in rural communities and arming them with robust sustained planning efforts. Both Beurle and Fox have extensive experience in various aspects of economic and community development and have served in local, state and federal governmental positions. Their work has been recognized internationally and won numerous awards.
The Winnemucca Futures Project is designed to proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and sustainable development through communications and collaboration. The Project was initiated by the Humboldt Development Authority for citizens to come together and explore opportunities for sustainable actions through the input of the community’s citizens. The Winnemucca Futures Project is dedicated to hearing all voices of the community.
An important feature of this process is that it aims to allow widespread engagement across the community and the opportunity for citizens to be part of identifying their preferred scenario for the future. Agreeing on a preferred vision for the future of Humboldt County helps provide a guide for decision makers and leaders, along with community groups, schools and service clubs, to chart the plans and direction for how they can be part of making that future a reality. It assists in coordinating efforts to move in the same direction towards that defined vision for the future.
These events are part of a long-term process that will gather community input into a shared plan for local community and economic development, and will identify key actions. For more information visit the Winnemucca Futures Project website: WinnemuccaFutures.com or contact Bill Sims: (775) 623-1064.
