WINNEMUCCA — Automobile enthusiasts gathered downtown Thursday evening (July 8) to show off and/or admire the best of the local classic cars. Kruise Night is hosted by the Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce and is held on the second Thursday of every month through the summer months. The street is closed for the event so folks can take their time admiring the restoration details, meeting with old friends, and swapping car stories in the shade of Bridge St.
Larry and Michelle Dowd are shown with their 1966 Chevy Nova SS. Larry said it took his dad and him about a year to restore the classic -- then he gave it to Michelle. He said they take it out whenever they can even though it's a challenge to keep dust-free.
Dennis Bennett is shown with his 1966 Cobra SC 427, which he built from a kit. Shown admiring the car are Nate and Steve. Nate commented, "I need me one of these. I ain't lived 'til I have one."
Car and racing enthusiast Chuck Giordano is passing his enthusiasm for the sport on to the next generation.
Everyone's favorite fire-prevention spokesman, Smokey Bear, attended the event and met with his fans.
