Job Description
Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will advise Turquoise Ridge leaders on the applicability of safety systems to site functions and develop staff to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for every person on site. Drive the implementation of OH & S systems by development of employees who identify hazards, manage risks, and utilize safe work practices. Manage the safety team effectively to ensure team service and work is high quality and professional. Ensure timely and accurate reporting includes effective document control and retention of records. Collaborate with supervisors, general supervisors, and department leaders on management of environmental issues. Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and that preventative actions are completed.
This position is at Barrick's Turqouise Ridge Mine. Turquoise Ridge is an Underground Mine located near Winnemucca, NV.
Job Requirements
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
- 7-10 years mine experience and a solid record in mine health and safety required
- 3-5 years supervisory/leadership experience in occupational health and safety required
- Knowledge of application of safety management systems to mining required
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Federal Mine Safety & Health Act 1977 required
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software systems required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral required
- Excellent people skills, empathy and rapport required
- Demonstrated ability to engage in productive conflict as part of a leadership team required
